Fold in, Fold out and a Cut
This was my final project at the Department of Visual Communication, Shenkar. In this project, I decided to conduct a formalistic experiment using the 22 letters of the Hebrew language. The purpose of this experiment was to simplify the letters to their most basic structure and then to recreate them by following a simple set of rules which derive from the material itself; fold in, fold out and a cut. In this way I was able to confront and question different dichotomous terms from letter design process such as positive-negative space, black and white balance, line versus shape and to find another way to comprehend letters.
